Where does; Qur'anic symantics and Ijtihadi Quranic commentary originate from, and what is the historical background of the Qur'an and Ijtihadi Qur'anic commentary? In response to this question, the article points out that the acquaintance with the significant meanings are attained through the vocabulary which the author of the text choosee for clarifying his message which is composed of the vecabnlary and structures. The next step involves taking care of stylistic devices, reasoning and sentence context. In the step which follows, in addition to considering the relevence of the text with the Qur'anic text and the lifestyle of the infalliable Jmams, special attention is given to the historical background of the text and to modern views. All these contribute to grasping the meaning which the auther has in mind, the necessity of the text, the background of meaning and such things. As for the reader's views, ablity of speculation, power of ijtihad and the skill of dealing with fiqhi issues, they have an effective role in shedding light on the meaning and they represent the final step of symantics.

The present article, which focuses on the concept of text, first classifies the subjects related to inquiry into concept and then examines the different areas of inquiry into concept from different angles, as follows: the nature of concept, the status of concept, the correct method of approaching concept, the kinds of concept and the evidences supporting it, the conditions of origination and development of the text (i. e the background of concept), the causes behind the different ways of perception and interpretation of a specific text and finally the criterion of the validity of a concept. The article also deals with the status of inquiry into concept in the area of religious studies, both in the science of Qur'anic commentary and in the science of the principles of jurisprudence (Usul), and shows which of these two sciences is related to the issues of inqiry into concept and in which areas there is a need to tackle new researching horizons.

Attemptiong to answer the question: "Where does a text get its meaning from?", the article offers three views: independence of the meaning so that it has no connection with the intention of the author but it is related with the form of text or with the intention of the auther, the fully - fledged relation between the meaning and the auther's intention, and the relation of the meaning of the text with the author's intention in its very independence. The article affirms the soundness of the third view and stresses the idea that the meaning of text is related to the author's intention, and the interpretor has to do his best in order to find out what the author has in mind by making use of certain rule. The idea that the holy Qur'an is produced by Allah, in form and contents, has been confirmed by so many evidences. In other words, the Qur'anic meaning constitutes the very thing which Allah meant it to be. Thus an interpreaor is required to work as hard as possible in order to be able to grasp what Allah wants to say. Therefore, one cannot realize the Qur'anic meaning without relying on correct logical rules and it is also important for the interpretor to realize the attributes of the Divine and pay special attention to the vocabulary and structures in order to be able to grasp the concept.

Hermeneutics can be defined as the epitome of the field of interpretation of religious texts and it plays a significant role in the kinds of study which are concerned with religious texts. The present essay starts with a brief definition of hermeneutics seeking to show its influence on the understanding of religious texts. Shedding light on the theory of author centredness, interpretor centredness and text centredness, the essay concludes that the aim of interpreting religious texts is to grasp the idea which the author has in mind, i. e. the author has a central role in interpretation of religious texts. The text, too, is regarded to have a certral significance in the sense that the subject matter of text contributes to realizing the author's idea. So studying the text is the means to approach what the author has in mind. Inerpretation of religious texts cannot be centred on the text to such an extent that the author's role will be ignored nor can it be centred on the role of the author to such an extent that the attention will be focused on the intellectual cultural and social background of the author rather than giving priority to the text. This essay maintains that the idea of interpretor centredness which is effected by the interpretor's personal opinion and judgement stands groundless and it advocates the idea of final meaning. It Regarding the different rulings of different religlous scholars on religious, issues, the essay holds that these different are noticed only in some cases not in all cases.

The essay at the outset examines the religious texts which deal with interpretation based on personal opinion and points to the view of shi'ite and sunni resources as well as Qur'anic which reject this type of interpretation. Next, it reviews Muslim religious schalars' ideas about this concept and then it sheds light on interpretation based on personal opinion in context of narrations and languistic and historical indications. The essay reaches the conclusion that interpretation based on personal opinion is a poor precedure of illustrating the meaning of Qur'anic verses. The narrations essess this kind of interpretation from four angles: in terms of source, objective, subject matter and the way of exposition, which make us realize that interpretation based on personal opinion represents an idea related to the unsound method of Qur'anic exegesis.

Understanding the propositions and questions in any science requires certain rules. These rules are commonly known as "the logic of understanding". The present research. which is concerned with the logic of understanding in Tafsir al-Mizan, examines this subject on the basis of ratinal rules and in the light of the eminent al-Alamah al-Tabataba'i's views. The aforementioned logic is studied within the rational domain which deals with issnues like the infalliability of the prophet's tlousehold and its relation with the understanding and interpretation of the holy Qur'an, the priciple of negation of objection to the rational solidly based matters, the pirnciple of the inherent language which characterises the traditions used in the commentary of the Qur'an, the unity of the source of Qur'anic verses and the traditions of the Infalliable and the negation of inner conflict in the traditions used in interpreting the Qur'an.
