In the present study, while studying the historical course and the theoretical foundations of the application of mathematics in Economics, the most important issues discussed from the viewpoints of advocates and opponents of the mathematical method are discussed and the results and consequences of this methodological approach are explained. The result of the research suggests that mathematics has helped Economics in areas such as modeling, internal consistency, empirical testing, economic policy, and facilitating scientific communication, but the limitations of classical mathematics include criticisms such as extreme simplicity, abstraction and the distance from reality, the weakening of the empirical nature of the Economy, and the elimination of the key elements of Economic analysis on Economics. However, the Economists' tendency to new branches of mathematics, such as game theory, chaos theory and fuzzy logic, has greatly reduced the limitation of elementary models and opened up a new approach to Economics studies به‏رغم اینکه اقتصاد بیش از سایر رشته‌های علوم اجتماعی از ریاضیات برای تبیین و پیش‌بینی بهره می‌برد، اما کاربرد این روش‌ها در علم اقتصاد، با مخالفت‌های جدی نیز روبه‌رو بوده است. در تحقیق حاضر ضمن بررسی سیر تاریخی و مبانی نظری کاربرد ریاضیات در علم اقتصاد، به مهم‏ترین مباحث مطرح شده از دیدگاه موافقان و مخالفان روش ریاضی پرداخته، نتایج و پیامدهای این رویکرد روش‌شناختی تبیین می‌گردد. نتیجه پژوهش حاکی از این است که ریاضیات، علم اقتصاد را در زمینه‌هایی از قبیل ‏مدل‏سازی‏‏‏‏‏‏، سازگاری درونی، آزمون‏پذیری تجربی، سیاست‏گذاری اقتصادی و تسهیل ارتباطات علمی، یاری بسیار نموده است. این در حالی است که محدودیت‌های موجود در ریاضیات کلاسیک، انتقاداتی از قبیل ساده‏سازی‌های افراطی، انتزاعی شدن و فاصله از واقعیت، تضعیف ماهیت تجربی اقتصاد و حذف عناصر کلیدی از تحلیل اقتصادی را متوجه علم اقتصاد نموده است. با وجود این، گرایش اقتصاددانان به شاخه‌های نوین ریاضی همانند نظریه بازی‌ها، نظریه آشوب و منطق فازی تا حد بسیار زیادی توانسته است با کاهش دادن محدودیت مدل‌های ابتدایی، رهیافت نوینی در مطالعات اقتصاد ‌ریاضی بگشاید https://method.rihu.ac.ir/article_1571_4a5fa31efe2bcfa8ab9dc75bec7bc190.pdf
