What empirical evidence can account for the positive role a religion or religious affiliation plays in mental health? <br />To answer the aforementioned questions, the writer provides a clear account of current researches carried out, along with the titles and consequences as follows: <br />A. Religious affiliation and suicide; the suicide rates among church goers have been found to be low or below the national average. <br />B. Religious affiliation and crimes; there is a negative correlation between churchgoing and commiting crimes. <br />C. Religious affiliation and narcotics (alcohol or drug adiction); the devout are less prone to drug addiction. <br />D. Religious affiliation and a happy marriage; the most important factor in successful and happy marriages is believed to be religious ties. <br />E. Roligious affiliation and depression; depressive illnesses are found to be more common among the non-believers or the non-religious than the devout. <br />F. Religious affiliation and stress; the devout are less subject to mental abnormalitiy. <br />G. An increase in union of kindred or strengthening bloodkinship brings about more social adaptation, and trust in God decreases anxiety and agitation. <br />  دین و دین دارى چه تأثیراتى بر سلامت روان آدمى دارد و کدام شواهد تجربى نقش مثبت دین و دین دارى بر سلامت و بهداشت روانى را مدلل مى سازد؟ مؤلف براى پاسخ به سؤالات فوق به چند طبقه از تحقیقات انجام شده با عناوین و نتایج زیر اشاره مى کند: <br />الف) دین دارى و خودکشى; بین تعداد کسانى که به کلیسا مى روند و میزان خودکشى رابطه معکوس وجود دارد. ب) دین دارى و بزهکارى; بین میزان رفتن به کلیسا و بزهکارى رابطه منفى وجود دارد. ج) دین دارى و اعتیاد; افراد مذهبى کمتر به استفاده از مواد مخدر روى مى آورند. د) دین دارى و رضایت مندى از ازدواج; مهم ترین عامل رضایت مندى در ازدواج هاى پایدار، مذهب تلقى مى شود. هـ  ) دین دارى و افسردگى; میزان افسردگى بیمارانى که داراى باورهاى مذهبى قوى ترى هستند از سایر گروهها کمتر است. و) دین دارى و فشار روانى; افراد مذهبى کمتر به مشکلات روانى دچار مى شوند. ز) افزایش صله رحم موجب سازگارى اجتماعى بیشترى مى شود، و بالاخره توکل به خدا سبب کاهش اضطراب مى گردد. https://method.rihu.ac.ir/article_643_7aa327a6e1921120252cd87a1dcba9f3.pdf
