Abstract

First, it is argued that the rule of patterns, the natural consequences of matterialization of science, and the deliberate deviation of the western social sciences from theology are singled out as the factors which have led to the total ignorance of such subject as theology and sociology. Similar cases happen in philosophy and science. Due to the prevailing cultural atmospher in the west, such an event is natural. According to the author of the article, there were some historical debates over the theology_science relationship; they were not given the due series of attention, however. There are two other relations as follows:
First, after M.Weber, the sociology of religion, and, in this field, the sociology of theology, were ignored, the same as what happen to the case of theology and sociology. It is less persued in its Weberian method. There is also, theoretically speaking, no barrier for its induction as a field of study in the realm of the sociology of realigion.
Second, the constructive relation of religion and science is such a background in which theology and sociology dovetail together so as to cooperate with each other to lay their foundations. According to the writer, in the sociology of religion, all the efferts done according to the former view led to a better understanding of religion, though with reduction and negetive tendency. On the other hand, in the second approach, the originality and reality of religion is taken to be certain, it is active in moulding and formulating the social thoughts and changes it .This effect is called the sociology of religion.
He also mentions the views held by Bawm,Flanagan,Gill,Lyon, and Milbank in the sociology of religion.
