The history of science witnesses the emergence of new theories and past theories lost their strengths and impacts. One of the most effective scientific fields that have had a major role in scientific developments is research methodology. From the oldest debates in this area that have had great influence on social sciences, including management, has been the differences between the quantitative and qualitative approaches to research method. Nowadays, the quantitative approach has a great prevalence on the literature of contemporary studies of management and this has made widespread criticisms. Understanding quantitative approach in management's research methods requires the inference of philosophical foundations of the approach and the criticisms around it. Through this research paper, it is tried to introduce philosophical origins of quantitative approach to research method in management and criticisms around it are considered too.
