Abstract

Kuhn criticized “progress in science”- as cumulative and convergence upon truth- in The Structure of Scientific Revolutions and proposed Darwin’s evolutionary model to describe history of science. But his model was not considered at the time of the publication of his book. This article attempts to use the metaphor of natural selection, tree of life and evolutionary progress in Kuhn’s theory of science and answer these questions: Would this metaphor be appropriate for describing the development of scientific theories?  Would this metaphor be enough to satisfy Kuhn’s mean for rejecting progress as cumulative and convergence upon truth?
