This article seeks to investigate into boundaries in families and its related concepts from Minuchin's structuralist point of view, explaining various boundaries in families and the roles they play in the efficiency of families and their state of equilibrium. Then the problems of families and the way to treat them are discussed. The second part of the article studies the limits and boundaries in families from the Islamic point of view. Thes limits and boundaries are explained and determined by the sexual relations, the interaction between man and woman (husband and wife), psychological atmospheres in families and the kinds of relationships families have with other families. The article comes to an end with the comparison between the boundaries from the Islamic point of view and that of the structuralists. Both schools put emphasis on the necessity of having ûopen and ûclosed relations among members of families, and of existing distinct psychological atmospheres governing subsystems in families, while taking into account the Islamic teachings concerning boundaries in a family in broader contexts and insisting upon moral aspects of a family life. The method of investigation used here in the first part is descriptive and historical while in the second part a content analysis based on inference methods regarding the Quranic verses and the traditions related by the Infallibles was used.
