A Test for Measuring Religious Attitude in the Light of Islam

Abstract

To provide the materials for putting religious attitudes to the test in the light of Islam, the religions in general are treated briefly and Islam in particcular is given lengthy treatment.
In an investigation into chief Islamic doctrines (creeds), an attempt is made to make use of the Quranic verses, and Shi`ite traditions and texts. On the basis of the findings, a questionnaire with seventy items (questions), confirmed by specialists and religious authorities in its ûcontent validity‎ and by a sample group consisting of 378 university students from various universities, including Tehran University, Free University, as well as the clergymen of the Seminary of Qum in its ûconstruct validity‎, obtainted a reliability quotient of 0.936 according to Cronbach alfa coefficient. The results of the investigation can be two measures, R1 (creeds, rituals) and R2 (morality) which altogether assess the Islamic religious attitude.
