Abstract

Propagation and psychological warfare are of most significance in social psychology. This article deals with the concept of propagation and psychological warfare from the psychological point of view on the one hand, and from the Quranic point of view on the other.
In the psychological study of the subject in question, such questions as definition, conceptual scope and use of various branches of psychology, as they are used in propagation and psychological warfare, have been taken into account.
In the Quranic study of the subject, the principles of propagations and psychological warfare, peculiar methods used by both belivers and nonbelievers, common methods as well as the preventive ways and stiff resistance against the evil consequences of propagation and psychological warfare are given descriptive treatment.
From the Islamic viewpoint, application in psychological warfare of any method which is of no moral value is strictly forbidden. This rejected method is peculiar to non-believers and is not whatsoever confirmed by Islam. Rather, Islam contradicts it and tries to persuade Islamic community to refrain applying it.
It should be noted, of course, that certain methods are preventive and can be applied by both believers and non-believers. Though these methods have positive value, their practical effects are of most significance; that is, their effectiveness depends on how much and how well they are used by each group.
