No doubt, Allameh Muhammad Iqbal, the most outstanding figure of his times and the great philosopher and political thinker in Indian subcontinent in the twentieth century, is one the precursors of self - assurance who revitalize Islamic thought at this present age. Having introduced this outstanding Moslem thinker in brief, the article deals with his educational thoughts and ideas. According to Iqbal, education serves as a means of creating genuine human beings who can think independently. For him, freedom is required to educate such a person, for, if freedom is not present, even when man's creativity is taken into account, he is not able to express it, or strictly speaking, fulfill his own educational purposes.
